Wing It, Baby: Cherubs and Cupids Take Flight in 2024 (But Hold the Syrup)

Move over, saccharine hearts and lovestruck teddies, there's a new sheriff in town (Cupid's town, obviously). Cherubs and cupids are shedding their sticky-sweet image and soaring into the trend stratosphere for 2024. Think less Hallmark aisle, more Beyoncé's "Crazy in Love" album cover reimagined by Michelangelo.

It's all about versatility, honey. These miniature maestros of mayhem aren't just for February 14th anymore. We're talking mugs with mischievous cherubs winking in your morning coffee, notebooks adorned with cupids firing heart-tipped arrows at your to-do list, even phone cases featuring cheeky cherubs photobombing your selfies. So whether you're a hopeless romantic or a cynic with a soft spot for mythology, there's a cherub or cupid out there ready to add a dash of playful chaos to your life.

And for the design gurus? Think neoclassical chic: intricate linework, starry backdrops, hearts that look like they were plucked from ancient frescoes. Think Van Gogh meets Venus, but with way less ear-lopping drama. And don't be afraid to mix things up! A cherub rendered in a naive hand-drawn style peeking out from under a painterly rose? Now that's a Valentine's Day card worth writing home (or posting on Insta) about.

So forget the predictable pink-and-red fluff (unless it's got cherubs gleefully shredding it to bits).

This year, it's all about embracing the mischievous, the unexpected, the "who even invented pants anyway?" energy of these pint-sized powerhouses. Let's face it, love can be messy, hilarious, and downright weird. And what better way to celebrate it than with a cherub gleefully giving your boss the finger with a heart-shaped lollipop? Now that's a trend I can get behind.
